  1. Affirmative action are programs that were designed to sneek out, hire, and promote qualified minority workers. Diversity is a group of people who are different race and have different culture. The differences between diversity and affirmative action is that affirmative action is trying to make a diversity in the economy. I didn't even start thinking about which college to go to. But if I were, I would consider diversity.

    1. Affirmative action is a policy that favors minorities or the less fortunate when citizens are looking for a job or college. It helps when their is a vast diversity between people applying for the same position. No i don't consider diversity.

  3. Is an action or policy favoring those who tend to suffer from discrimination, most likely in a relationship of employment or education. The word diversity means to me variety. Diversity is different people and affirmative action is an act that is there for diversity. Yes i do consider diversity because i would like to talk to other about their cultures and their traditions and values.

  4. I still am unsure what affirmative action is so I cant give you a good guess to what it is. Diversity is like the mixture of races like when someone says "SciTech is a diverse school." they are saying we have a good mix of many races at the school. I guess.

    2. Great job Orrion and I agree with your definition. Especially when you say 'job opportunity'. That's exactly what it is...a job 'opportunity' rather than simply giving them a job because they are a minority.

  5. Affirmative action is the requirement of having at least one minority interviewed for a job. Affirmative action leads to diversity so they are not the same thing. I do think about diversity, by deciding to not waste time thinking about it and just jump to looking at HBCUs since I know the group of people that go to schools like that.

Affirmative action is a policy favoring those who tend to suffer from discrimination in employment or education; positive discrimination. Diversity means there's a variety of different things. Affirmative action and diversity are different because affirmative action only focuses on education and employment, while diversity can be focused on many different things.

Yes, I consider diversity when thinking about what college I want to attend because I want to be around different kinds of people and learn more about different things.

  8. I think Affirmative action is allowing minorities to have an equal chance to compete in the work place. I could be wrong though don't quote me. Diversity is different back rounds , races , religions and customs. I think because of diversity affirmative action is in place. I didn't think about diversity and in college but im sure there will because there will be people from all walks of life.

  9. I think that affirmative action is when you take action in a very affirmative way. I think that diversity is when there is a variation of different things or it means that its a type of segregation. They are different because one is affirmative and the other is a diversity also one means taking action and the other is segragation.

I like your thoughts but can you explain when you say, 'take action in a very affirmative way'. What does affirmative mean to you?

I think affirmative action is something which is positive discrimination related to employment or education. Diversity is a group of people from different races and background come together and achieve one goal. Diversity is a people from different places and affirmative action is the action people give each other in the work environment. i think about the diversity because when you are working or studying you need all kind of people so you wont be nervous.

  12. I personally don't know what affirmative action is. I believe diversity is different races, religions and or anything that makes people who they are individually. I have no idea how diversity and affirmative action are different from one another. Why would I think about diversity when applying to college? But i did have to write an essay about schools, and I realize that every school website talks about diversity and how it can help us. -Saf

  13. Affirmative action creates equal opportunity for everyone to have a shot at different jobs. Diversity is when a community is mixed with all different type of people, races, and backgrounds. I think these are two very different things for many reasons. Affirmative action does not treat everyone equally it treats people like they are disadvantaged. ~ Uriel

  14. I think affirmative action means equal access to education, I think it applies to jobs and other things as well. Diversity means a variety of different things. Affirmative action is different because it focuses on changing the many disadvantages groups have. Diversity creates an environment that everyone and every group can fit in. -Raven

  15. I think that affirmative action is a action that help people who suffer from discrimination. It's an action that help people get the help they deserve. I think that diversity is the state of having people different races or different cultures. I think that affirmative action and diversity are different because affirmative action for African American and diversity for all minority.
