  1. Yours Truly, Victor

The reviewers had simply summarized the movie. Being a documentary i can understand why they may not have had much of an opinion, since the documentary was from a biased point of view. The viewer may not have much of their own thoughts since they were shown one side of the story.

    1. To Victor,

your reply was great, i did notice that all the reviews made redundant summarizations about the movie, they reiterated the synopsis.

  2. The two links didn't even give opinions and one was restricted. Good points are McKinney was a thorn against George W. Bush, McKinney losing her Georgia seat in 2002 due to Republicans hating and African-Americans being systematically excluded to vote because they're most likely to vote for Democratic party. After getting the paper, his or her opinion was the film didn't boost McKinney's credibility and saying it's politics, it "happens"

    4. I think your comment was right on the ball,
the reviewers did not have much to say at all.
They claim theyre reviewers but that tale is tall,
Multiple paragraphs but their opinion was small.

This was Victor posting on your Wall.

  3. Reading the reviews and interviews about American Blackout it seems that it caused a big upset in politics. It also raised questions within the people about what actually happened with the governments knowledge. Some didnt like what McKinney had to say but others, majority were Democrats, supported McKinney's points and election. -Seihrahbi

  4. Tapan.

All three review we read about was about American Blackout. All three of them summarized the movie in their on way. The New York Times said, "Few things in a democracy are more sacrosanct than the right to vote, and in his furious documentary". Second one said that it purports to examine the claims of disenfranchised African-American voters. And last one said that American Blackout is trying to move left democrats up to the lather.

  5. I don't think that these reviews are more informational than opinionated. They simply explain what happened in the movie rather than give their own thoughts on the movie. I assumed that a movie like this would have more controversial, and political, reviews, but these were pretty conservative. On the contrary to the "Variety" review of the movie, I do not think that the perspective is limited because Cynthia effectively explains what is happening on her side as well as her opposition's side. -Orrion

    2. Yeah, pretty much why we needed more time due to DVD talk being the only one that has opinions, overall agree with your statement on perspective.

  6. All the reviewers think that the film is more about anger than what the speakers point of view. They are manipulating what she says and making it seem like it is just the African-American that she is worry about. They all state that the GOP stole the election of 2000 through 2004 by using their tactics to win over the Democratic party. They all don't say that she feels it was not fair.

  7. New York Times and DvD talk explained the facts about the movie. Dvd Talk mentioned how there were less voting machines in 2004 which was a tactic to scare away some voters. While Variety says turning over from Republicans to Democrats was not injustice because its a part of politics. I disagree with this statement because I feel as though its very injustice considering the fact that majority of Caucasians only switched over to Democrats because they did not like what McKinney was saying. She was bringing the truth to everyones eyes but as always the press changed her words around to make it seem like she was in the wrong. - Taryana Peterson

  8. I do agree with the first review stating that the movie was a "methodical compilation of questions and irregularities that deserves a wider audience". Because the movie did portray questions and concerns about the voting and how it's being handled. I do not think it was just African Americans but all people that were impacted by the absurd elections, just some people had their rights violated. I agree with the first one more than the rest of them. ~Leah

  9. In the American Blackout movie it reveals how African Americans are excluded from political activities. In the movie it talks about Cynthia McKinney's troubles as a representative for the democrats. She was very vocal at expressing her concerns for president bushes administrations. I agree that we cannot ignore the claims in the movie. I also agree that she is very forceful in getting answers and that's the kind of person we need pursuing the government. -Raven

    1. Very well explained and nice choice of diction. I agree with you as well, those claims had some facts to them and the government should investigate further into it, but knowing them they're not going to. - Taryana Peterson

  10. The movie examines the political troubles of representative Cynthia McKinney. They given the movie good review and I understand it a documentary but it was still a great movie. They said that the movie was good because it shows some of the election day horror story. They said that after watching 20 minutes extras, it reveal how much more one-side this already titled documentary could have been. They given great reviews about this movie and that great.

  11. Reading all the three review of the movie was pretty interesting. They all summarized the movie and gave their inputs into it. For example, in article number four, last paragraph stated that McKinney was too forceful a personality to be counted out. Even though she lost her democratic primary, she might make a comeback. I didn't really see a negative review on this movie, but if there was im interested in knowing. -Saf

  12. In the reviews, there wasn't really an opinion. The articles gave us more if a summarization of the movie. They had a lot of good points about the movie and helped me understand what was going on in the movie more. Although they were all basically summaries of the movie, they all had points that weren't in the other articles.

Each reviewer said their thoughts/feelings on the movie, but I guess they didn't really get to express themselves. However, it was easy to tell there were a lot of people upset about what was going on. I think there were good points made throughout all of three articles, but one I agreed with is in the first review when it said the movie was a "methodical compilation of questions and irregularities that deserves a wider audience".

  14. Well in there reviews all of the reporters seem to be on the McKinney side of things. For the first review they just basically summarized what had happened in the election and why she lost to the candidate running against her. In the second review the guy doesn't trust political documentaries. In the third review the guy likes the documentary and talks about it in a "im on your side kind of way". -amiiir

  15. All the article reviews were pretty accurate. I appreciated in the "Anger and Irregularities at the Voting Booth" that they included commentators switched McKinney's word about 9/11. In the DVD talk I liked the way they personified McKinney. I have much respect for her because she was a black women sticking up for minorities she stood u for what she believed even when she was standing alone!
