  2. The Black pather party was created as a self defense mechanism. The Black Panther party was created to protect themselves from the violence behind racism. The Black panthers walked around with guns and weaponry which "Scared" the white people but they did not realize that they did the same stuff everyday without concerning their safety. The black panthers did it strictly for self defense. Through it all the black panthers raised awareness and made a difference.

  3. The Black Panther Party was a self defense group that defended Blacks from the abuse of the police. I think that what they did was not only very brave but also very necessary. Without the Black Panther Party many more blacks would have attacked and maybe even killed, this is why what they did was important.

  4. As the civil rights efforts moved forward most of the actions deemed to be non-violent. However the black panthers had different motives and wanted to fight back against the violence with violence. Founded by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale they challenged police brutality by carrying weapons. I feel as though they were revolutionaries and not terrorist because they did it for a change. They wanted to stop brutality and the violence that was happening and possibly saved many lives. The government response was awkward but at the same time it is the government and some response was needed. Overall it gave the black panthers the attention that it needed.

I do not think that the black panther party were terrorist, what they were doing was not right but they were standing up for themselves. They wanted to stop brutality that was happening to their people. The governments response was not as it should have been.

  6. After watching more then half of the documentary, it is clear that the Black Panther Party were not terrorist, they were revolutionaries. The group was created to stop the violence. It wasn't just about white supremacy, but capitalism. Yes, they were a group that believed in using violence, but they weren't a group to strike first. That was the reason behind the use of the black panther as their symbol. They wanted to stop police brutality among the blacks, but they also wanted decent housing, education, health, and freedom. They created a Ten Point Platform explaining who they are and what their group was about. The government reaction to their group was horrible. They created programs to disrupt, discredit members of the party. They used informants and conspiracies to take down the party because they felt that the party threatened them. I feel as though they were just a group of courageous and determined men and women that fought for what they believed in no matter the consequences.

  7. From watching the film, I believe that it is very present that the Black Panthers are not terrorists and in fact they were revolutionaries. The Black Panther Party did participate in violence, though were only violent to those whom posed a threat to society. The Black Panther Party wanted to stop the police brutality in not only Mississippi but also other places around the world. The Black Panther Party was a group of nationwide revolutionaries. Another focus of the Black Panther Party was also to save lives. They used self defense tactics to help stand up for themselves. Despite everything bad mentioned about the Party and its members, they fought and stood up for what they believed in like other Civil Rights Leaders.

  8. Although the Black Panthers were very hostile and confrontational, they were doing this because they needed protection and the government was turning against them. They called out the California legislator for trying to pass a legislation that would prohibit African Americans from carrying weapons like guns. I believe they were not terrorist but revolutionaries with violent tactics. I believe they turned to violence because the government was not listening to their wants. They fought to be heard so they could get an exceptional education, a great paying job, etc. In my opinion the government has evolved to being corrupt in my eyes because they don’t work to give citizens the things they deserve and need. The way the government responded was very unethical and disrespectful considering the laws that were being passed to “prevent” violence from occur. I believe the government’s response was inappropriate because it allowed those growing up during that era to continue to think treating African Americans that was suitable.

  9. As the Civil Rights endeavors pushed ahead the greater part of the activities considered to be peaceful. However the Black Panthers had diverse thought processes and needed to battle back against the roughness with viciousness. Established by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale they tested police brutality by conveying weapons. I feel as if they were progressives and not terrorist since they did it for a change. They needed to stop ruthlessness and the brutality that was going on and potentially spared numerous lives. The Government reaction was unbalanced yet in the meantime it is the administration and some reaction was required. In conclusion, it gave the Black Panthers the consideration that it required. They all were strong and determined women and men that gave it their all for what they looked up to and what they believed in. KIRA MERRITT PD.4

  10. After watching the black panther movie, in my opinion I believe that they were revolutionaries. I say this because they rebelled against the government in order to gain equality and stop police brutality against black. The only thing the black panthers wanted was to have good housing, education and freedom and the way the government treated them was unethical. I don't believe that they should have used informants to take down the panther party just because they felt threatened. Also the way the government reacted was cruel, they brutalized many black panther members such as Huey Newton who they almost killed him. Even though the government did what they had to do, they could have took proper precautions in stopping the black panther party so overall I believe that the governments way of responding to the black panthers were inappropriate.

  11. After watching most of the documentary, I learned a bunch on what was going on through this time period and how chaotic it was for the Black Panthers. The Black Panther Party was a revolutionary socialist organization active in the United States from 1966 until 1980 something, and fought for their careers and having equality. Many African Americans joined the Black Panther Party because they wanted freedom, education, having a better way of life and wanted to put an end to police brutality. The Black Panthers hated oppression and killing of innocent people. Also government reaction to the Black Panthers was that they made programs to disrupt and bring members of the Black Panthers out of character.

  13. The Black Panther Party led a powerful and influential movement. The movement intended to use forcefully violence if only it was necessary. The concept I believe was useful, but a little drastic. The panthers wanted to live without oppression, something hard to find within America among minority groups. The concept of fear can sometimes get people to act faster to solve any commotion.

  15. The Black Panther Party were revolutionaries. They were know as a group the wanted to stop the discrimination in the Nation but the differences between the civil rights movement and the Black Panthers Party was that they used violence as a key tool in their protest. The governments action was inappropriate, they were sacred and unhappy of the party. They created many groups and campaigns to take down the party. I believe the Black Panthers did a courageous job in getting their message across for education, housing and just stop police brutality. 16. Some see the the Black Panther Party as a threat and others as heroes that stood up against police injustice. Black Panther Party was initially created because of the injustice in their community and oppression. What strikes as inspirational was that it wasn't just only black that supported the Black Panther Party but also other people when evident during marches to free Huey. The members of the Black Panther Party bare arms and have ideology different from Dr. King Jr. protest practice. The group was not always about violence but rather they looked out for the community such as the creation of the children breakfast program. FBI director J. Edgar Hoover saw the the Black Panther Party as a threat and devised a plan to undermine the Black Panther Party. It seems almost unbelievable that the FBI would see the Black Panther as a threat because their group was all about community. After watching about half of the documentary I can believe that their causes were courageous and inspiring.

  23. Watching the film i find the Black Panther Party to not be terrorist. While yes they may be hostile but they never made a hostile move unless provoked. If not for the added violence on the law enforcement part like the death of panther Bobby they would of continued to of done what they originally did. The government response to the Panthers was unnecessary and wrong the only real reason they had a problem with the panthers was because they were beginning to become influential across the nation. The pig imagery is a good example when panthers took to calling police pigs it did not bother them but when other especially young people they saw it as a problem. The FBI also were a problem they labeled them as terrorist because they were influential among the people and because they felt threatened the government group did all they could to stop them even blackmailing other African Americans into working on the inside to gather information. All the Panthers wanted was equality, freedom from the white supremacy and the end to the brutalization of African Americans they only used violence as protection and if the need arose, So no they were not terrorist. The Black Panthers were influential revolutionaries who were able to inspire those across the nation without meaning to and were labeled wrongly because of it.

I believe the Black Panthers made a big difference in the Civil Rights Movement because they represented something other than nonviolence and intimidated the cruel white people that caused blacks harm. No, the Black Panthers were not terrorists, they simple did not put up with police and white supremacy brutality. Instead, they used intimidating tactics to get what they wanted. I feel that I too would have joined the Panthers because they used tactics that i think exerted power on society and let people know they could not walk all over them. I do not believe the government's response to this organization was appropriate because there were laws in place that let people including blacks carry firearms and they were not hidden from the public, they were in plain sight.

  25. The black panthers were revolutionaries, and in no way in my opinion terrorists. They promoted self-defense against law enforcement, and were ready to use violence only if necessary. I believe the government were the terrorists in this battle for equality, because they stated in writing that they wanted to neutralize the Black Panthers, whether it was making them informants, sending to jail, or even killing them. I believe because the organization was intimidating and African American, the government thought it was appropriate to intervene; but I believe it was inappropriate and unnecessary. The Black Panthers was a group of men and women who were not violent in nature, and were able to get their message across using other tactics. They created a movement to allow people to be confident in themselves and did positive things in the community, but all the government saw were the guns.

The Black Panther Party was a self defense group that was defending itself from the abuse the police was giving to blacks at the time. They had weapons which they took with them to scare the white people and to make them not hurt them. They did it all to protect themselves and the black community since there was very harsh racism at the time. What they did was brave and it spread to other countries.

  29. It is my believe that the black panthers are indeed revolutionaries, if a little violent. It is my believe that they did not have bad intentions. They were a self defense group who would stand outside with armed guns. In the movie it showed how the government wanted to pass a law that said people could not be in public with loaded guns. The black panthers claimed that Whites were trying to leave people of color defenseless. The first person that died from the black panther was a 17 year old. Huey and Bobby which were members of the black panther both went to jail. I thought that this movie really displayed a different side of the black panthers that I had never seen before.

Learning about human rights is information that everybody should know or take a risk to learn since they are required throughout everyday life. The Magna Carta holds our constitution in a decent regard. It portrays nothing about any religion, tranquil fights, regardless of whether wrong transforms into right. This primarily applies to outsiders just as residents as well. There are always misunderstandings, but it has become the foundation built by society. People with higher authority tend to treat people lower than them differently due to their title. Ever since the Magna Carter was created, it was made to stop people who abuse their authority. Without these rights people would be taken advantage of and there wouldn’t be order or structure.
